Baritone

Internationally acclaimed American operatic baritone, Christopher Magiera, has been noted for his “manly, vibrant baritone of uncommon distinction” (Opera Today) and was praised by the New York Times for his performance in The Death of Klinghoffer: “Among a uniformly outstanding cast, Christopher Magiera, a handsome baritone, stands out as a warm, brave and sympathetic Captain.” 

Chris performed worldwide as a leading baritone, singing hundreds of performances throughout the world. Throughout his career, he was seen in over forty operatic roles, including the title roles of Eugene Onegin, Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Joseph De Rocher (Dead Man Walking) and Don Giovanni. He also performed Conte Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Valentin (Faust), Marcello (La bohème), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Robert (Iolanta), The Captain (The Death of Klinghoffer), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) , and Zurga (The Pearl Fishers), among many others.

Chris sang at world-renowned opera houses including the Lyric Opera of Chicago (USA), English National Opera (London, England), Bayerische Staatsoper (Munich, Germany), Teatro di San Carlo (Naples, Italy), Teatro Massimo (Palermo, Italy), Semperoper (Dresden, Germany), Santa Fe Opera (USA), Opera Theatre of St. Louis (USA), and Vancouver Opera (Canada). He performed with well-known conductors such as Kent Nagano, Riccardo Frizza, Kiril Petrenko, Vladimir Jurowski, Emmanuel Villaume, Yu Long, Fabio Luisi, Pier Giorgio Morandi, and Frederic Chaslin and alongside world famous international opera stars including Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Fransisco Araiza, Edita Gruberova, Javier Camarena, Anna Netrebko, Jonas Kaufman, Alan Opie, and Bo Skhovus.
